How to improve the hand feel of textiles when you process the textile printing?

The pigment paste for textile printing and dyeing has a significant impact on the hand feel and breathability of textiles. The binder in the pigment paste covers the surface of the fabric, making it thicker and harder, reducing breathability and deteriorating the hand feel. Furthermore, as the amount of pigment paste, binder, and other auxiliaries increases, the breathability of the fabric continues to decrease.

First, select high-quality pigment paste to ensure uniform pigment particles, narrow particle size distribution, and good compatibility with additives, reducing coverage and blockage of fibers and improving breathability and hand feel. 

Second, reasonably control the amount of binder used to avoid stiffness in hand feel caused by excessive use. Self-crosslinking binders can be selected to enhance wash fastness, while balancing hand feel and fastness by compounding different binders. 

Third, optimize the baking process, controlling the temperature at 150 to 170℃ and the time at 3 to 6 minutes, to avoid yellowing of the fabric and hardening of the hand feel caused by high temperatures. 

Fourth, add an appropriate amount of thickener to improve the leveling property of the pigment paste, reduce splashing and bleeding, enhance printing uniformity, and indirectly improve hand feel and breathability
