How to analyze the tinting strength of pigment dispersion(paste)? The tinting strength of pigment dispersion is also a key factor in evaluating it. Tinting strength refers to the ability of pigment dispersion to show color and cover at the same unit solid content. This is closely related to the particle fineness of the colorant. For colorants of the same color, the finer the particles, the larger the surface area, and the more layers they can be stacked within a unit area, resulting in a higher reflectivity and deeper, brighter colors. Conversely, if the particles are coarse, there will be fewer layers stacked within a unit area, and the gaps between particles will be larger, resulting in dull and lackluster colors.

To compare the difference in tinting strength between two varieties of pigment pastes, we can obtain results through testing and comparison. When printing with the same concentration of pigment paste, we generally use two concentrations of 5% and 0.2% to test, printing one dark color and one light color. By comparing the dark and light colors, we can clearly understand the difference in particle fineness and tinting strength between the two different pigment pastes. For dark colors, we generally observe their color tone differences. Pigment pastes with coarse particles generally appear darker and darker in dark colors, while lighter colors appear lighter and darker. This is especially true for light colors. Many low-grade pigment dispersion(pastes) appear darker when printing dark colors compared to high-quality paint color pastes, leading to the misconception that the concentration of high-quality pigment pastes is inferior to ordinary pigment pastes. However, they fail to see the deficiency of ordinary  pigment pastes in light colors, and most textile printing orders are mainly for medium and light colors. Therefore, choosing high-quality pigment pastes not only ensures superior color luster but also reduces processing costs due to the excellent tinting strength of high-quality pigment dispersion (pastes)
